To assess the class population of tyres, please follow these steps:
1) Select “Tyres” as product group in the home page
For tyres, a general assessment of the class population is meaningless, because the choice of tyres has to be necessarily related to specific parameter values, as from the homologation documentation of the vehicle.
Let’s begin by assessing the class population for a passenger vehicle:
2) the “Filter by” section lets you select the specific tyres you need (e.g. by looking at the parameters moulded on the sidewall of the tyres originally mounted on the vehicle or consulting the homologation documentation). Let’s assume to assess the class population of summer tyres for a passenger car with tyres “245/45 R19 XL” that can reach a max speed of 195 km/h;
3) in the “Filter by” section on the left: Select “C1” as tyre class, Enter “245/45 R19” in the “Size designation” text box, Select “Normal” as “Use”, Select all from “U” down to “Y” for “Speed index, And select “XL” for Loan version, Press the button “Apply filters”
With this action you will have selected all and only the products responding to the filtering criteria you have entered. You may include models not marketed anymore by setting the checkbox “Include models not placed on the market anymore”.
4) Click on the arrow to “View the models distribution by performance class”
The distribution can be used, for example as a compass to determine what are the highest and significantly populated classes, as required for eligibility of models according to the Taxonomy or to the Energy Efficiency Directive. A class with only very few models, representing a very small share of the market, shall be not considered “significantly populated”
